Copper Bark Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 279 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.
The small handful of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of sticky, small, kidney-shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either pink, or lilac with slate dots.
In late summer it forms giant, bold yellow seed pods.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
All parts of the tree are edible.
