Amberfern

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 638 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of leathery, tiny, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are amber on the edges and olive at the center.

In late summer it forms small, grey, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
