Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 541 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, slanted trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of rough, large, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are violet and beige.

In late summer it forms large, gold aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making paper
