Azure Starflower

This large flower grows up to 3.3 feet (99 cm) tall. Its green stem is thin, and the small, gold leaves are pleated with wavy edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

6 to 11 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 26 cm (10.2 inches) wide, with solid azure petals decorated with peach lines and a washed-out purple central disk. The flower head is made up of 30 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
