Bloodvine
Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 607 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.
The small bunches of branches are very short and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with handfuls of giant, grey needles. The needles themselves are frail.
In late summer it produces giant, blood red seed pods.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
