Blackbark Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 606 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a thick, crooked trunk covered in delicate, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white with black speckles.
The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of rough, small, thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either black, or gold with cyan edges.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, beige aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It can flourish even in standing water.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
