Magenta Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This huge fruit tree grows up to 65 feet (19.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown.
The numerous branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of miniature, finger-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid magenta or bronze, with indigo patches.
In early spring, it produces clusters of large, green blossoms with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like varnish.
In early winter it produces small, 5 pointed fruit. The rubbery violet skin is peel-able and sweet, and the soft crimson flesh is salty and sour and juicy. The red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
