Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This huge tree grows up to 144 meters (472.5 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 163 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, burgundy bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy-brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of waxy, small, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid vivid yellow or indigo, with black streaks.

In early spring, it produces several small, crimson blossoms with 6 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like warm milk.

In late summer it forms tiny, cream, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
