Violet

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown-grey.

The abundance of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of giant, thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either hazel, or cyan with grey splotches.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, violet blossoms with flame-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like new books.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, V-shaped fruit. The smooth caramel skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet and spicy, and the crunchy cyan flesh is spicy and sour and syrupy. The cream seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
