Storm Giant
Description
The storm giant, or Gigantus tempestas, is a towering, humanoid species known for its immense size and its extraordinary ability to manipulate weather patterns. Reaching heights of 30 to 40 feet (9 to 12 meters), these giants possess remarkable strength, and their skin often has a blue or gray hue, matching the storm clouds they summon. Their hair, long and flowing, frequently crackles with static electricity, and their eyes glow with an ethereal, lightning-like intensity.
Storm giants are covered in dense, weather-resistant skin that protects them from the harshest elements. They are typically adorned in simple garments made from the hides of massive sea creatures, and some are known to wear armor forged from thunderstone or enchanted metals found in remote mountain regions.
Abilities
As their name suggests, storm giants wield control over the weather, calling upon thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and heavy winds. They can summon rainstorms to nourish the land or create devastating hurricanes. Their ability to harness lightning allows them to direct bolts of energy at threats, while their mastery of winds grants them incredible speed when traveling by foot or sea.
Despite their formidable power, storm giants are known for their wisdom and foresight. They are natural leaders among giant-kind, often serving as rulers or protectors of vast territories. Many are said to possess prophetic abilities, capable of predicting future events by reading the skies and storm patterns.
Habitat
Storm giants live in remote, high-altitude environments, such as mountaintops or stormy coastal regions. Their palatial homes are often located within the clouds themselves, where they dwell among perpetual storms. These cloud-castles are magnificent structures built from cloudstone and other magical materials, invisible to most mortal eyes.
Some storm giants are known to inhabit isolated islands or deep within oceans, where they can control both sea and sky. Their stronghold locations ensure they remain distant from human civilization, though they are occasionally seen off the coast, summoning great waves or storms.
Diet
Storm giants are omnivorous, though they primarily feed on large sea creatures, including whales, krakens, and massive fish. They also cultivate vast orchards of fruits and vegetables in hidden valleys, sustained by the frequent rains they summon. The diet of a storm giant is as massive as its stature, requiring enormous quantities of food to sustain its energy.
Behavior
Storm giants are reclusive, preferring to keep to themselves or small groups within their own kind. They are generally benevolent but can become fierce when threatened or provoked. Known for their sense of justice, they often protect nature and intervene in mortal affairs when the balance of the natural world is at risk.
Although typically calm and peaceful, their temper can match the storms they control. When enraged, a storm giant’s wrath is terrifying, with lightning and thunder responding to their emotions. In battle, storm giants fight with massive weapons, often enchanted hammers or spears that channel the power of storms.
