Burgundyfern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 43 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several thick, twisting stems covered in hard, silky, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, broad, flat, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are gold on the sides and florescent green at the center, flimsy and soft.

In late spring it produces lots of small, grey flowers with 6 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

The sap is edible and very savoury.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
