Conipome

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 59 feet (18.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in very thick, smooth, brown-green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The numerous branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of large, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either pink, or brown with sky blue lines.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, brown blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like roses.

In late autumn it produces , finger-like fruit. The smooth pale red skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy brown flesh is sweet and powdery. The olive seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
