Bloodfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This giant fruit tree grows up to 72 feet (21.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.
The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of small, cylindrical leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the sides and bright green at the center.
In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, dark brown blossoms with finger-like petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like cheese.
In early winter it produces small, 6 pointed fruit. The soft aquamarine skin is delicate and sweet and savoury, and the very soft blood red flesh is bitter and spicy and oily. The light brown seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
