Blue Tuft Grass

Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short, lime green grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The wide stalks grow in large clumps that are sturdy and flexible and they are slow to spread and grow.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, sky blue tuft.

During the late summer, it produces lots of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with lots of giant grains.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
