Purple Clinger

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its dark grey or vibrant purple stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are very thin and straight, and split into numerous branching stems at the base, and the miniature, moss green leaves are light yellow-green on the underside and are very narrow and elongated with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 1 to 6 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of blue. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a powerful scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has an average amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It can flourish even in standing water.
