Copper Leaf Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in ridged, dark brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.
The small handful of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in lime, azure and copper varieties.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, amber blossoms with finger-like petals. They are sturdy and have the faintest scent that smells like rich perfume.
In early summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The rubbery caramel skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy indigo flesh is sweet and sticky. The dark grey seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
