Crimson Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is red, and is covered in brittle bronze spines. It has a wavy, stocky, blood red trunk atop a stumpy ball of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are very thick and red and light grey and trail down across the ground.
The tattered-edged, V-shaped leaves are orange-yellow with cyan tips. They are strong, but take little effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are orange on the edges and crimson at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 49 petals. It has a strong scent that smells like skunk spray.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the cyan flesh is slimy, and the crimson sap is thin and causes diarrhea if consumed.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
