Burgundy Petal

Flower type: Annual (Grows and flowers repeatedly for more than two years)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is very thick and splits into 5 branching stems at the top, and the giant, bright red leaves are light lime green on the underside and are thick with rounded edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 23 cm (9.1 inches) wide, with grey petals and a yellow center. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like damp, and it has lots of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
