Turquoise Vine

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. Its red stem is thick, and the tiny, turquoise leaves are sickle shaped with rounded edges. The leaves alternate on the stem.

5 to 8 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally blue; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 37 raised, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like pot-purri, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
