Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its copper stems grow in bunches of 8 and are very thick with a curved tip, and the giant, lime green leaves are circular with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.
1 to 4 tiny flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with purple petals that gradient shift to gold on the outer edge. The central disk is silver. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 11 raised, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.
It has an intensely strong scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
