Violet Bindweed

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 39 feet (11.9 meters)0. It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 6 months for the yellow-green stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm) and are rough and gnarled.

The wide, smooth leaves reach up to 11 inches (28 cm) in length. They are a shade of yellow-green and grey that gradient shifts to florescent orange at the top, and have wavy edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of large violet flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces lots of tiny fruits.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
