Mahogany

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 85 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The thin clumps of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small bunches of miniature, circular leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are gentle purple on the sides and bronze at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, blue blossoms with shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like vomit.

In early autumn it produces small, oblong fruit. The hairy silver skin is tough and bitter and savoury, and the soft gentle purple flesh is savoury and syrupy. The lime seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
