Burgundy Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)This large tree grows up to 84 meters (275.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 663 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in smooth, burgundy bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy-brown.
The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small bunches of smooth, miniature, sickle shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are florescent red on the sides and gold at the center.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, bright blue blossoms with many layers of petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like old books.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, grey seed pods.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
