Bloodvine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 35 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several slender, curved stems covered in fine, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is white.
The branches trail down towards the ground that and are covered with large amounts of giant, very thick, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are moss green with brown tips, resilient and fuzzy.
In mid-spring it produces many balls of medium-sized, blood red blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like vomit.
In late autumn slender, 2 pointed fruits ripen. The fuzzy red skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft amber flesh is sweet and spicy and oily. The pastel orange seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
