Bloodvine

Flower type: Annual (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized flower grows up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. Its blood red stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 7 and are thin and straight, and split into many branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the giant, violet leaves are light gray on the underside and are asymmetrical with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 34 cm (13.4 inches) wide, with petals that are dark brown on the underside and lime on the top. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 10 petals. They detach easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like an ocean breeze, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
