Bloodvine

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 63 feet (19.2 meters) tall. The very thin stem is burgundy, and is covered in sharp spines. The smooth-edged, broad, flat leaves are brown on the sides and blood red at the center. Thick bunches of them grow from the base in no particular order. The leaves are light, but are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 46 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with gold petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with many tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like coffee.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the bronze flesh is soft, and the brown sap is thin.

It is often referred to as the most beautiful of all flowers.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
