Emeraldvine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small bine is a quick growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 22 feet (6.7 meters) and growing as high as 182 feet (55.5 meters).

It takes 11 months for the emerald stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are smooth and fuzzy.

The long, narrow, fuzzy leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are solid yellow with cream dots, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces large amounts of average orange flowers.


It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is often home to a particular bird species.
