This emerald moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In bogs, In heathlands, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is large, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is very delicate; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald V-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It has impressive regenerative properties.
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
