Indigo Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This massive caudiciform grows up to 170 feet (51.8 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is burgundy, and is covered in dozens of rigid brown spines. The stumpy, beige trunk can grow to as much as 170 feet (51.8 meters) in diameter. Its emerald branches are short stubs.
The smooth-edged, perforated leaves are copper and indigo. They are resilient, and take little effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are either silver or slate, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 42 tightly layered narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like onion.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the peach flesh is waxy, and the grey sap is thin.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
