Indigo

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This short leaf succulent grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is brilliant orange or black, and is covered in handfuls of flexible bronze spines. The toothed-edged, circular leaves are bronze on the edges and indigo at the center. Small bunches of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are robust, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 6 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with each petal a slightly different shade of turquoise grows at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 33 raised, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like roses.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the cream flesh is rough, and the muted green sap is thin.
