Blackfire

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is very thin and straight, and the tiny, green and brown leaves are light slate and grey on the underside and are fan-like with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

4 to 8 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with solid black petals decorated with faded red lines and a azure central disk. The flower head is largely flat with several raised narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a strong scent that smells like pot-purri, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
