Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This massive fruit tree grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in fine, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of large, spear shaped leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are light brown with turquoise tips.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, magenta blossoms with finger-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like cinnamon.

In late autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy orange skin is delicate and slightly spicy, and the crunchy black flesh is overwhelmingly savoury and very dry. The white seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
