Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 48 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in waxy, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.
The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, stiff, pointed, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid pink with gentle purple patches, light and sticky.
It produces thousands of medium-sized, dark grey flowers with 4 cylindrical shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke. In mid-summer it forms tinygentle green aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
