Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 182 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has dozens of long and flexible, straight stems covered in hard, silky, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, shield-shaped, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and grey, sturdy and crispy.
It produces a thick sheet of giant, cyan flowers with triangular shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cheap aftershave. In late summer it forms smallgold, spiky-shelled seeds.
