Crimson Vine

It takes 5 months for the red stems to mature, by which point they have tangled themselves into thick mats with a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are tough and woody.
The shield-shaped, smooth leaves reach up to 3 inches (8 cm) in length. They are a shade of orange-yellow that gradient shifts to subtle purple at the top, and have wavy edges.
During late spring, the vine produces hundreds of tiny subtle purple flowers, and during the late autumn, after flowering, it produces a few small seed pods.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is frequently struck by lightning.
