Black Rose
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The thick stem is dark brown, and is covered in thick bunches of fine, gold, hair-like spines. The rounded-edged, very thick leaves are solid black or pink, with indigo patches. Very large amounts of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are delicate, but do not detach easily.
It is very slow growing, taking 38 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are generally orange; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of many petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cube. It has a faint scent that smells like a newborn baby.
The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the purple flesh is rubbery, and the faded red sap is thin.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
