Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 57 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, straight stems covered in waxy, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid gentle yellow or brown, with cyan dots, rigid and rough.

It produces large amounts of giant, red flowers with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like new carpet. In early winter it forms smallsilver berries.


It comes in 68 varieties.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
