Bronzeberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, burgundy bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with large amounts of miniature, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are violet at the bottom and caramel with gold lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, light grey blossoms with circular petals. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like rich perfume.

In late summer it produces large, perforated fruit. The fuzzy light grey skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy bronze flesh is extremely salty and dry. The faded yellow seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
