Bronze

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 74 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, wavy trunk covered in thin, silky, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark brown or bronze, with lilac streaks.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, florescent purple blossoms with pleated petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like ashes.

In mid-autumn it produces small, broad, flat fruit. The fuzzy peach skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the crunchy olive flesh is sour and savoury and very dry. The olive seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
