Blue Petalfern

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its brown stem is thick, and the giant, gray or olive leaves are slender, pointed with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

5 to 9 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are black at the sides and subtle blue at the center. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of tightly layered round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like rotting meat, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is suitable for making paper
