Clinging Sunflower

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This enormous flower grows up to 7.2 feet (2.2 meters) tall. Its white or green stem is thick and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are circular with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two giant flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 102 cm (40.2 inches) wide, with gold petals and a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like new carpet, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
