Bloodthorn Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large caudiciform grows up to 91 feet (27.7 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is gray-green, and is covered in lots of rigid florescent red spines. It has a straight, slender, blood red trunk atop a slender tripod of rough, exposed roots. The branches are thick and gray-green and trail down to the ground.
The toothed-edged, fan-like leaves are olive at the bottom and crimson with grey patches at the top. They are robust, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid indigo petals decorated with azure dots and a ashy purple central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 11 petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like glue.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the indigo flesh is waxy, and the bold blue sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
It actively smothers and kills off other plants.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
