Coniapple
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is black.
The small handful of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of miniature, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid grey or violet, with pink splotches.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, orange blossoms with spiral shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like fruity.
In mid-summer it produces tiny, perforated fruit. The crispy pale green skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy cream flesh is sweet and dry. The cream seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
