Bloodgrass

Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized, burgundy grass grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The needle-like stalks grow in extensive patches that are delicate and they are exceptionally hardy.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a small, blood red flower.

During the late summer, it produces copious amounts of pollen, but it does not cause any allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with lots of small grains.

The sap is peach.
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly bitter.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
