Amber Spine Succulent
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This small leaf succulent grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The very thick stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick bunches of rigid slate spines. The jagged-edged, thick leaves are solid amber with brown streaks. Small bunches of them grow from the base in no particular order. The leaves are delicate, but easily come away when pulled.
It is steady-growing, taking 10 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with amber petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 36 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like misty mornings.
The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the green flesh is leathery, and the bronze sap is thin.
