Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thick, and the large, yellow-green leaves are 8 pointed with toothed edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.
Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with indigo petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 4 raised, narrow petals. They are sturdy.
It has a delicate scent that smells like sweat, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
