Clinging Bloodblossom

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 44 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of small, teardrop-shaped leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid pastel yellow or red, with gold streaks.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, blood red blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like pepper.

In early autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The smooth beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft white flesh is bland and dry. The brown seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
