Violetberry
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in cracked, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bright green and beige.
In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, bright green blossoms with wide petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like sweat.
In late summer it produces , circular fruit. The fuzzy dark brown skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the soft violet flesh is spicy and oily. The yellow seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly bitter.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
