Bluefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in hard, cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is black.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of small, circular leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid light brown or red, with orange edges.
In early spring, it produces thousands of large, sky blue blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like something putrid.
In early summer it produces , spherical fruit. The sticky beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft cyan flesh is bitter and sticky. The slate seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
