Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large tree grows up to 81 meters (265.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 441 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is white with black speckles.
The branches are very short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of rough, huge, very thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are blue at the bottom and blood red with violet dots at the top.
In late summer it forms small, olive, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
